SUMMARY:ALGAE treatment @ LAKE
DESCRIPTION:The most common lake weed problem is Filamentous Algae.  Filamentous Algae\, also called “lake moss” or “pond scum”\, form dense mats of strands.  Filamentous Algae is often a persistent problem because it reproduces rapidly by fragments\, spores and cell division.  Abundance is dependent on nutrient levels\, particularly phosphorous\, in the water.  High levels of nutrients result in increased amounts of algae. \nIts presence can degrade water quality and recreational enjoyment. \nAn alum treatment consists of applying liquid alum (aluminum sulfate) below the surface of the water from a boat. When the alum meets the water\, it turns into a non-toxic substance\, or floc\, called aluminum hydroxide. As the floc settles\, it binds to phosphorus in the water and also forms a barrier on the bottom sediments that prevents phosphorus from being consumed by algae. The alum treatment is expected to be effective at reducing phosphorus in the Lake for several years. \nApplying the correct amount of chemical is crucial to successfully controlling algae.  All product labels provide dosage or application rates\, often as pounds or gallons per acre-foot of water. \nTiming of chemical applications is another important consideration.  Some algae species can reach nuisance levels in cold water just after ice-out.

DESCRIPTION:What is our league?\n4 person teams with individual scoring and classes.\nScoring is done with handicap scoring\, so the equipment doesn’t matter.\nWe have classes for everything from recurves to scopes. (No crossbows)\nWe shoot one evening a week\, your team is scheduled at either 6:30 or 8:00 to shoot.\nWe shoot on Tuesday/Wednesday nights for roughly 10 weeks\, if we have enough teams sign up we will have to also schedule some on Wednesday nights.\n\n\n\nHow far do you shoot\, how many shots?\n20 yards and you shoot 3 arrows 12 times.\n\n\n\nDon’t have a 4 person team?\nPlease sign up any way and we will get you set up with some other folks.\n\n\n\nTo sign up please contact Clayton Asper 717-597-5163
