President’s Message

My fellow Members;

For myself and for our Association, I want to thank my predecessor, Neil Thrush, for all he has done to steward our Association.

This inauguration declaration marks a new beginning, a new dedication within our Board of Directors, and a new spirit among us all. A President may sense and proclaim that new spirit, but only a strong leadership and membership can provide it.

You have given me a great responsibility–to stay close to you, to be worthy of you, and to exemplify what you are. Let us create together a spirit of unity and trust. Your strength can compensate for my weakness, and your wisdom can help to minimize my mistakes.

Let us learn together and laugh together and work together and pray together, confident that in the end we will triumph together in the right.  We have learned that “more” is not necessarily “better,” that even our great Association has its recognized limits, and that we can neither answer all questions nor solve all problems.

We cannot afford to do everything, nor can we afford to lack boldness as we meet the future. So, together, in a spirit of individual sacrifice for the common good, we must simply do our best.

Within us, there is evident a serious and purposeful rekindling of confidence. And I join in the hope that when my time as your President has ended, members might say this about our Association:

– that we had torn down the barriers where there had been mistrust and in its place built unity, with a respect for diversity of interests;

– that we had found productive work for those able to perform it;

– that we had strengthened the Sportsman’s family, which is the basis of our Association;

– that we had enabled our constituents to be proud of their own Membership once again.

– and that we had remembered the words of Micah and renewed our search for humility, mercy, and justice;

“He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” (Micah 6: 8)

These are not just my goals, and they will not be my accomplishments, but the affirmation of our Associations continuing moral strength and our belief in an undiminished, ever-expanding community.

Your humble servant.

Vice President’s Bulletin

Patriots;

By in large the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association has had much success over these last two years.

We’ve incurred many COVID-19 headwinds but those resulted in very few short-term failures and we are anticipating renewed growth emerging long term.

It will not be easy.  But I have never been more optimistic about Greencastle Sportsman’s Association future than I am today.

Over the past several years, I have experienced the strength, resilience, and commitment of the key Membership and Directors.

I fully attribute the Sportsman’s eight decades of success to the character and integrity of the membership. I believe our successes are fully a result of our spirit of volunteerism, to our past and present Board of Directors, advisors, to our commitment to the Member’s Charter, and to preserving our past history while continually improving our Club in current times.

Onward to a bountiful 2022!

Secretary’s Report

Associates;

Thank you to the Officers, Board of Directors and Advisors for the countless hours they put forth for the betterment of our Association.

I hope it is understood that the Board of Directors welcomes all constructive input, new ideas for activism, and fully supports Volunteers and Members in sustaining support of the Club at home and while representing our Association at outside convocations.

The Board of Directors primary purpose is in successfully advancing the Association’s conservation efforts, hunter and shooter safety education, providing outdoor and indoor recreational opportunities, and continuing  open space initiatives supporting Membership interest.

Light, happiness, health, and prosperity into 2022!!

Treasurer’s Record

Sportsman’s Family;

We continue to collectively prioritize investments that not only make us stronger today, but also reflect the mission of our Charter, stewarding and focusing Sportsman’s principles onto our children and grandchildren.

Together we make sure our physical and financial investments work for everybody, not just those who may serve on the Board, as Committee Chairs, or one activity group over another.  We continue to support outside organizations by lending our grounds, facilities, and expertise at every opportunity, not to mention financial contributions to local, like-minded enterprises.

While a secure financial future is within our reach, it will take all of us working together to meet the fiscal challenges that may lie ahead.  The unified efforts of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association eight decades have resulted in the establishment and sustained thriving community, another eight decades is readily foreseeable with the active Member’s leadership, monetary support, and public volunteerism.

Godspeed Members!
