Kids Archery – Open Registration Begins (until full)

We will have an indoor archery league for kids again this winter. Our focus will be on safety and learning to enjoy archery, with a goal of eventually placing kids on teams and have them compete against each other just like we do with the adult league, while still emphasizing individual improvement week to week.

Ages 8 –16

Kids will be divided into two groups, a group shooting at 10 yards and a group shooting at 20 yards, based on the kids’ experience, capabilities, and your recommendations, but not necessarily age.

When

The league will be nine (9) weeks long and will be held every Monday night in January and February, starting January 3, 2022. The 10-yard league will shoot at 6:00 PM and the 20-yard league will follow them and shoot at 7:30 PM.

Cost per kid – $15 

If you need a family shooter’s pass, an additional $5 will be charged. (The Shooter’s Pass will allow kids of members to shoot, with parental supervision, whenever other club activities are not being held.) DO NOT SEND MONEY WITH THE REGISTRATION FORM. Money should be turned in at the Sportsman’s Club on Sunday, December 19, from 1:00 – 3:00. Please mark this date on your calendar. At that time, non-members will be encouraged to complete a membership application.

Parental Help

We will appreciate parental help and you do not need to be an accomplished archer to help. We will need help to supervise kids while shooting, coach shooting, help scoring, and concessions.

Equipment

We provide targets. We ask the parents to provide bows and arrows for their kids, although we may be able to provide a few on a limited and as-needed basis. Bows must be vertical bows (no crossbows) but may include longbows, recurves, or compound bows. Arrows must be tipped with field points (no broadheads). Kids will shoot 3 arrows in a row before checking targets and scoring so they should have at least 4 good arrows in case an arrow is damaged during competition.

Eligibility

Registration forms will be numbered in the order they are received. Through October 31, 2021, only children of members and Junior members will be accepted. Assuming slots are still available, beginning November 1, 2021, the remaining slots will be filled in the order received on a first-come basis, starting with the Registration Forms for children of non-members submitted before November 1.
