FISHERY ENHANCEMENT

This is the best situation for good fishing of both species.

The first goal in the management of the fish population in any water body is to
match the proper predator fish with the proper forage fish.
Once this is accomplished, the object is to manage the forage fish population to produce large
numbers of young fish on which the predators can feed.
Results of the fish population survey indicate that the fish population is what would
be classified as out of balance. This the same situation that has occurred the last few years.
It appears that fishermen have been harvesting the larger bass, 11”+, from the lake.
These 11″+ bass are now protected from harvest and need to remain in the lake.
Continuing to harvest these larger bass will have a continued negative impact on the overall fishery.
The predator fish must be maintained in larger numbers to prevent the forage fish from overpopulating.
